What is a Micro QR Code?
A Micro QR code is a smaller variant of the standard QR code defined in the ISO 18004 standard. Unlike standard QR codes which have three large square position markers in the corners, Micro QR codes have only one position marker in the top-left corner. This allows them to be printed at sizes as small as 5mm x 5mm while still being scannable by modern smartphones and industrial scanners.

Important Limitations of Micro QR Codes
- Small data capacity: Micro QR codes can only store a very small amount of data. To link to a website, you must first shorten your URL using a service like bit.ly or tinyurl.com. Long URLs cannot be encoded in a Micro QR code.
- Close-range scanning: Micro QR codes are designed to be scanned from very close range, so they are not suitable for posters, billboards, or signage viewed from a distance.
- Limited error correction: Only L (low) and M (medium) error correction levels are available - the Q and H levels used by standard QR codes are not supported.
